If you are in business and want to attract customers, you need to have an accurate Google My Business Profile. You may not be too familiar with this platform but it is power-packed with information that your customers are looking for! Read on to know why this is crucial for your business and how to claim your listing.
What is a Google My Business Profile?
Google My Business is the place that determines how your business will perform and look in search engines. Think about the last time you googled a restaurant. A box probably popped up listing the restaurant, its location with directions, hours of operation, and hopefully a decent picture of the building. All of this part of that restaurant’s listing.
Here is one for our business neighbor Cahawba House:
If you have a brick-and-mortar store, a Google My Business Profile is highly recommended for users to find you. During the COVID-19 pandemic when store hours are adjusted from their normal schedule, your hours of operation can easily be changed to reflect that. Nothing is more disappointing than driving to a store only to find out it is closed upon arrival!
If you do not have a brick-and-mortar store, you still want to have a helpful listing. Read our case study example below.
Case Study
One of our clients is a local pressure washing company. The owner operates from his home, so they do not have a brick and mortar store. Due to a previous business also running from his home, his listing pulled his home address and showed a satellite image of his home anytime his keywords or business name was searched. This was not how he wanted his business represented in search engine results.
He contacted us to help update his listing. From a google account we claimed his business and web site we had recently completed. Google then sent a postcard with a special code to his business address to confirm it was correct. Once he received the code he shared it with us and we finished the process of updating his listing to the correct information.
Verifying your listing is something you as a business owner can do yourself. We know your time is important and we offer this service to help you focus on doing what you do best – your business!
What else is on your Google My Business Listing?
In addition to website, hours, location, directions and photos, you can find reviews, a place where questions can be asked, actual posts your business has shared to the Google My Business platform and links to your social media profiles. It has almost everything a user may want to know when listed correctly.
