Dogwood is made up of a group of people who are passionate about what we do and love being able to help organizations in our community succeed. This is the story of us!

Lauren is one of our three digital media specialists, working hard day in and day out with her clients on their social media and web presence. She and her husband are Montgomery natives and live nearby with their 2 dogs, 2 cats, and too many fish! They love animals, to say the least. Lauren’s also an avid bowler, a talented writer, and a huge asset to the Dogwood team!

Here is Lauren’s Story:

Lauren was working with the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions when she and Brian’s paths first crossed. Brian, at the time, was managing all of their websites and social media. Lauren worked for the Office of Collegiate and Student Ministries and would seek out Brian with questions on how to make simple web edits. Brian noticed the initiative and potential and began asking her to do some freelance writing for a few Dogwood clients. It didn’t take long for Brian to realize they needed to bring her on full time – so that’s what they did! A trip to Dreamland BBQ sealed the deal! She was the first girl to join the group of guys, and she’s still keeping them straight to this day!

Lauren noticed many things about Brian and Dogwood when she first joined the team, but a few things stuck out to her most – how they valued their employees and how they held themselves to high standards in their work. Being the kind of girl that cherishes words of affirmation, Lauren always knew that she was valued at Dogwood. They let her know the potential they saw and always communicated that they intended to help her grow in her skills.

It was also very obvious that they love what they do and want to make everything they do the best it can be.

Since being at Dogwood, Lauren has learned a lot and grown in many ways. She is more confident in her abilities than ever thanks to the proper training she’s received. Dogwood has been the job that has seen her through some of the biggest transitions in her life, like getting married, and she says she is definitely not the same person she was when she was first hired a year and a half ago.

I’ve never felt more valued and cared about in a job than I have at Dogwood.

If Lauren had to describe the personality of Dogwood, she would say it’s just like working with all of your friends! Somebody is always cracking a joke (probably Matt, as we deemed him the office jokester in his latest blog.) However, everybody knows when it’s time to get to work. There is a genuine desire to see people grow and be better, and that attitude is cultivated in each employee at Dogwood – that makes it fun to come to work! To sum it up in three words, Dogwood is excellent, heartfelt, and authentic.

If she had to narrow down the services of Dogwood to what she believes is the most valuable she would obviously say social media management! But seriously, she truly believes every offered service is so valuable. Any need a client might have, Dogwood can handle. Whether its a mobile-friendly website, a more consistent social media presence that boosts engagement or a 10×100 foot sign – yep, we’ve got you covered!

Funny Lauren Story

Back in July of 2019 Brian, Matt, Thomas, and Lauren went to an event that Dogwood had done a lot of work for. They saw the client, met some new people, and enjoyed getting to see their hard work pay off. It was about a 3-hour trek back to Montgomery and on the way home, Brian and Lauren discovered that they knew some of the same music from the late 90s and early 00s. She then revealed to Brian that the reason she even knew those songs was that they were the songs on the original Kidz Bop album and they proceeded to jam to Kidz Bop the rest of the way home.

From the Words of Lauren

People ask me all the time how I’m liking my job and I can honestly answer them every time that I love my job. I enjoy what I do for sure but the reason I love my job isn’t solely because of what I do. It’s because of the people I work with. I could be doing the exact same thing with different people and I promise I wouldn’t like it as much. I enjoy that when I come here for work, I’m guaranteed to laugh that day and not just an obligatory chuckle at a lame joke like real belly laughter. My coworkers make me smile and that makes working here pretty dang cool!
